Rita arrived in Accra to a massive welcome by a section of Nigerians resident in Ghana, as she books her place Nana Aba’s Women of Valor Conference.

Nigerian actress Rita Dominic was warmly welcomed upon her arrival in Ghana on March 6th, eliciting an enthusiastic reception from a group of Nigerian students studying in the country.

Stepping off the plane at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Rita was met with cheers and applause, marking the beginning of a grand reception.

Rita’s visit to Ghana comes at a time when Kumawood star Liwin is shooting a Netflix movie titled “The Country Called Ghana” with Nigerian movie legends.

The awaiting crowd, brimming with so much anticipation, greeted her with bouquets of flowers, symbolizing their deep admiration for the renowned Nigerian star who had graced screens in Nigeria, Africa and beyond in her hay days.

According to Billboard.com, in 2014, Vybz Kartel was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. The Jamaican dancehall star has now won an appeal of his conviction due to juror misconduct in the original trial, Reuters reports. A Jamaican appeals court will now decide whether the musician and his co-defendants will again stand trial.

The trial of Vybz Kartel and his co-defendants lasted 64 days and was one of the longest in Jamaican history. During the trial, one juror allegedly tried to bribe other jurors to return not-guilty verdicts, but the alleged briber was not dismissed from the case.

Afua Asantewaa requests for Sing-a-thon disqualification details from Guinness World Record as she struggles to convince Ghanaians she didn’t have prior knowledge of her disqualification.

Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, a Ghanaian event planner, has expressed interest in obtaining additional information regarding her disqualification from the Guinness World Record for her unsuccessful Sing-a-thon event.

In a statement seen by Demarshian TV, Afua thanked Ghanaians for their support and explained that she seeks further details to learn from the experience for future endeavors.

Despite not anticipating the outcome of her record attempt, she expressed satisfaction with the results.
Afua expressed appreciation to a section of Ghanaians for their criticisms, commendations and feedback.

“I appreciate the commendations, feedback, and criticisms from a section of the public who felt disappointed with the outcome.

“The outcome of the attempt following the announcement by GWR is not what I expected, nonetheless, I have accepted it and have requested GWR to provide more details.

“I wish to express profound gratitude to the people of Ghana and various stakeholders for your immense support throughout my Sing-a-thon journey,” Afua said in the statement.

Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, reflecting on her recent record attempt, acknowledged that certain media reports misrepresented aspects of her endeavor.

Nonetheless, she gracefully accepts these instances as opportunities for personal growth, emphasizing that they will contribute to her learning journey.

Expressing profound gratitude, Afua Asantewaa extended thanks to all who supported her mission to showcase Ghanaian music by attempting to establish a new Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon.

However, the Guinness World Records (GWR) announced via Twitter on February 22 that Afua Asantewaa’s attempt did not meet the criteria for success. Despite this setback, the GWR expressed hope for her future attempts, indicating their willingness to support her in making another endeavor.

Furthermore, the GWR clarified that the verification process had commenced before Afua Asantewaa’s request for expedited service, resulting in a refund of her earlier payment.

Responding to the GWR’s announcement, Afua Asantewaa revealed that she received the news while preparing to host an event attended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. She pledged to announce her next course of action shortly and expressed appreciation for the outpouring of love and support.

Afua Asantewaa’s Sing-a-thon concluded after 126 hours and 52 minutes on December 29, 2023, with the aim of surpassing the existing record set by Sunil Waghmare, an Indian vocalist who sang continuously for 105 hours in 2012.
